SparkedEcho Director Kevin Grist has been spending the last year supporting degree students at the British & Irish Modern Music Institute learn about financing their creating projects.

Kevin was commissioned to author a brand new unit in the college’s Music Business BA (Hons) course titled Financing Creativity which has been designed to prepare students with skills in crowdfunding, grant writing and sponsorship. He also guest-lectured on parts of the course.

Kevin said “I wanted to create a practical unit that equips students with an awareness of the arts funding landscape and how to plan for and approach potential funders. Through this, many students have gone on to raise £500-£1000 for their projects including for an album launch and a music festival.”

Financing Creativity is delivered at BIMM London in West London. BIMM is renowned for artist success stories including James Bay, Tom Odell and George Ezra. It also has a roster of impressive industry tutors.

Kevin is a qualified teacher with a PGCE, a recent graduate of the National Arts Fundraising School and is DBS registered. For all booking enquiries, please contact us here.
