Ideas Test is an arts organisation based at No. 34 in Sittingbourne and works across Swale and Medway, Kent. As part of the Creative People and Places initiative, their mission is to empower communities to live more creative lives. They are working to get local people – particularly older people, families and young people – involved in the arts as amateurs, professionals, consumers and creators.

Since 2012, Ideas Test have been producing arts programming which has ranged from street festivals and knitting, to community theatre and living room opera. Out Of The Ordinary (OOTO) is a programme strand which makes interventions where there are gaps in certain places, communities or artforms. As part of OOTO, ‘Playing to a Different Tune’ will focus on developing music and sound art from 2017 onward.

SPARKEDECHO are currently working with Ideas Test as creative producer to deliver the music and sound art programme. This will include piloting projects, fundraising, new commissions, skills development for music makers and growing partnerships.
